**PLEASE READ THE WHOLE RATTERY POLICIES PAGE!!**
This will answer most of your questions and also make sure to browse the other pages.

New Litters will be added to the bottom of the page when they have their eyes open.

SCROLL DOWN FOR THE LATEST UPDATE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE

Adoption fees will be discussed privately.

Payment: I AM ONLY TAKING CASH AT TIME OF PICKUP.
Paypal is now taking out fees and I'm being "stiffed" out of a few dollars here and there, it's getting annoying for me and the adopters.
Please understand this is a NON-refundable payment, it helps with food, bedding and/or medicine when needed.
I DO NOT TAKE PERSONAL CHECKS!
I adopt out on a first come, first served basis, via email ONLY in the order I receive them by date and time (CST). PLEASE wait to email me- I will announce on this page when reservations can be sent in. I will then update the website as soon as the reservations are in. PLEASE do not email me and say "Well, if someone backs out, keep me in mind." I will not do this because I have many people that want my rats and if I show preference, that just isn't fair to others. If a rat or pair of rats become available for whatever reason, I will post it here and then again, it's: first come, first served. I do check my email in the morning and will check it more during the day when I have rats available. I expect the reservations to go very fast.

Pups that do not have homes lined up will NEVER go to any other rescue.  They will always be available for adoption here if they are on this page, photos will be updated over time.

For those that have asked about males making good pets: Bucks can -and do- make GREAT companions! Males can also be neutered, if you are so inclined to have it done. It can help with: reducing marking territory, possible aggression, their musky odor and "Buck grease"- which is an orangish skin discharge associated with too much testosterone, that can be helped with omega-3 fatty acids in their diet- just add flax-seed oil or olive oil to (no soy additive) wheat bread 2 or 3 times a week. None of my rats I place are neutered or spayed, that will be the adopters responsibility to have done (see my policies).

Males and females both continually mark their territory, be it their cage, the bed, couch or you- it won't matter. Males tend to mark more than females but that's because they're males. Rats don't have much control of their little bladders as it is so that's why they end up peeing everywhere. Both genders can be trained to poop in a litter box, see "Bringing 'em Home" for more on that.

Males will always be bigger then females, even neuters. On their current diet (no Soy) I won't be surprised if they eventually reach close to, if not surpass, 2 pounds at 14-18 months of age. PLEASE stick to the diet I give my rats, not only are they used to it, I don't know what will happen to my rats when they are given soy after several generations of being off of it. It could, over time, be deadly from what I've read.

Females love to go exploring and are more active than males for the most part, at least from my experience they are, but I do have a couple females that love to just sit in my lap and be scritched rather than go out and on an adventure. I have a couple of males that are very curious and are quite busy when they are out of their cage, others like to sit and be petted. It all rides on the individuals personality.

Some rats are very dominant and some are very submissive. It's best for a new rat owner to have one of both, or a pair that was born and raised together, instead of having to deal with rats that are fighting over dominance; that's why Rocker, Joe and Simon are not in the same cage, someone would seriously get hurt.

    PLEASE consider adopting boys!

Here's an awesome update from the "Mom" of Zeus (American Blue Velveteen Dumbo) and Jupiter (Platinum Self Standard Dumbo), brothers to Fauna and Victoria (Joe X Mary Jane-first litter)

The Grey one (Zeus) is now: "Yin"  And the light Tan one (Jupiter) is:  "Rugby".   Mackenzie (daughter)  has been an excellent Rat mom. She takes them out every night she is with us and plays with them. They know her and recognize her, and come running across the cage to be with her when they see her. It's REALLY cute!

Her Dad was the biggest skeptic on getting these rats for our home, but now he just LOVES them!  He takes them out every evening when Mackenzie is not with us.  HE has commented over and over about how amazingly friendly they are. They both genuinely want to be with people! They do not hide in their cage, but always come out to be greeted. We always handle them carefully, so they have never had any reason to be frightened of us, or ever bite.

They have a friend in our 65 lb Labradoodle dog, "Lutsey". Rugby plays a game with her, it is so funny, and the dog LOVES it! If Lutsey is lying on the ground when Rugby is loose, he will run strait up to her face and touch her nose, and sit on her paw. When Lutsey gets up, then the chase is on! They will have a slow chase around the house.  Lutsey nudges the rat around.  And if the dog stops,  the rat runs up to the dog and waits on her paw or right in her face, until the dog starts to nudge him again.   Rugby has a few "safe" places where we’ve told the dog not to go.  So he goes to one of his corners when he wants to stop, but … when he’s ready to start again, Rugby will then run go right up to her face again, teasing and taunting the dog until she gets up and chases.  Its VERY funny to watch.  Rugby bosses the DOG around!
Lutsey is a very good and gentle dog.  She knows this is a game.  We always supervise them when they are out.  Both Rats have many places where they could go to get away from the dog if they wanted,  but they chose not to.  They run up to her and tease her until she decides to chase them.   Yin also will play, but Rugby has it perfected!

They really are so sociable and friendly. Rugby is definitely the dominant boy,  if we give a treat to Yin, and Rugby finds out.. they will often get in a tussle and Yin loses his treat.   Yin is more the snuggler, while Rugby is the explorer. Yin sometimes sits with me while I work during the day.   I can’t have Rugby out as much while working because he would just run around.
Its been a lot of run having them. They are great little family members.
Thank you.
 -Sandra

**My 90+ pound Doberman also loved to play with Lilo and Tipper when they were alive, he'd give them his toys on the couch and they'd inspect them and run around his head.

The above update is why I can guarantee inquisitive, loving and curious personalities, all my rats *want* to be with their human!

Who's Available:

Once the rats are picked up, I will remove their photos/names from this page.
I only accept cash (exact change) at time of pickup.

PLEASE- Make sure you can commit to an adoption, I count on incoming funds to help with supplies for the rattery. I do not make any profit off any adoptions.

_The rats are with Leesa in West Branch, IA. Adoptions will still be done through me, adoption fees (to help support the rattery) and pickups will be done through Leesa. Get in contact with me HERE first to reserve your new rats. I retain the right to breed any of these rats if I need to expand my bloodline before they are adopted.

**Some of the older males do not get along (aggression/hierarchy issues) so cannot be placed together, please look at the notes under each rat to see who they would get along with the best. I will not adopt out singles, they MUST go as a pair or more.
